For faculty and students at Johns Hopkins there are a number of image data bases available for academic use, inlcuing ARTStor, CAMIO (Catalog of Art Museum Images Online, Oxford Art Online, and the Index of Christian Art. JHU Krieger School of Arts and Sciences faculty and students may also use the Visual Resources Collection resources and services.

New York Public Library Digital Collections
NYPL Digital Collections provides free and open access to thousands of digital resources; audio, video, webcasts, images, prints, photographs, and texts. Materials downloaded from the NYPL Websites may only be used for personal, educational, or research purposes.  They may not be used for commercial purposes.

Pixabay
Pixabay is a repository for public domain pictures with free vector images, drawings, and photos. Many of the Pixabay images may be used without attribution in digital and printed form, even for commercial applications. There are also images available for licensing at reasonable rates.

Visual Arts Data Service (VADS)
VADS is a platform for a variety of online image collections at various UK institutions. Image groups come from mostly non-traditional fields of art history, including the London College of Fashion Cordwainers Shoe Collection, Spanish Civil War posters at the Imperial War Museum, suffragette imagery, and public sculpture. The database is free, once the user has registered.
